Woman Stands up to Old High School Bully and Refuses To Serve Her Table After Years of Teenage Torment: ‘It felt good’
Sometimes, working in the restaurant industry means you run into people from your past who you'd prefer not to run into. Usually, the best way to avoid uncomfortable conversations is to pretend you don't remember them, in hopes they do the same. What do you do when you're expected to serve someone who made your life exceptionally difficult back in high school?
The answer to that question is: You don't. No job is worth sacrificing your sacred mental health for a meager tip (which you'd likely not have received anyway if you were serving your teenage tormentor). The woman in this story expresses that her old bully had made her life so difficult and she did not want to go back into the dark place she once lived in. Even upon giving the bully a chance to be kind, the bully immediately starts tormenting her at her place of work. The woman decides to do something for herself and refuses to serve her. Of course, upper management doesn't usually consider their employee's feelings, so they were upset that the woman refused the bully service.
Though the woman is now confused about how she feels regarding what had happened, she admits it felt good to finally take a stand against an entitled person who makes others feel bad just so they can feel better about themselves. I commend the original poster (OP), and folks in the comments are siding with her, as well. To reiterate, nobody should feel like they have to sacrifice their happiness for a payout.
